Ralf Einhorn started studying Electrical Engineering / Computer Science at the TU Braunschweig and received his degree at the University of Hanover in 1997. 1998 he became staff member at the Institute for Computer Networks and Distributed System (RVS) and the Regional Computing Center for Lower Saxony (RRZN) of the University of Hanover. Beside the work at RVS he was member of the Media Lab (MML) of the RRZN. 2001 he started to work at the L3S Research Center.
His working areas focus on the applicability of net-based audio and video for research and education covering the range from production of audiovisual content to publication. Related topics are audiovisual recording equipment, video production and editing, format conversions, streaming and video conferencing.
An example of his work is the implementation of web-based online-services for converting audio data and generating video from series of pictures for the usage with streaming systems. Another issue is choosing, installing and maintaining the audiovisual campus equipment for recording, broadcasting, and connecting lectures halls with high-quality video-conferencing systems for distributed lectures and events.
